Movies You Made: “Dead In The Room”

Another in the series “Movies You Made” from Margie Kaptanoglu:

Marjory Kaptanoglu wrote DEAD IN THE ROOM, a short screenplay that won the 2010 Slamdance short script contest and was then produced by them. The film premiered at Slamdance 2011 and was invited to many other film festivals, including Nashville, Woodstock, and San Diego. It won two best short awards. The film is directed by Oscar nominee Adam Pertofsky, and stars Patrick J. Adams of SUITS on the USA Network and Andrew Borba, who has appeared on many TV shows.

Here is a summary of the film’s premise:

At a screenwriters’ pitch event, a vengeful writer turns the tables on an arrogant studio executive, ordering him at gunpoint to pitch a good story or die. As the clock ticks down, the exec gets a lesson in truthfulness and storytelling, but will he learn in time to save himself?

And here is the film:

Marjory wrote two other produced shorts and has optioned two features. She won a Writers Boot Camp Fellowship in December, 2011, and is currently working with them to develop her latest feature, “A Match Made in Hell.” You can contact her through her website.
