I’m wondering if this is part of the movie, or a tie-in. Weyland-Yutani was the corporation name responsible for the Nostromo spaceship in the original Alien.
In the Prometheus trailer, there’s a quick glance of the “space jockey” from the original movie, too, sitting at a cannon as it rises from the the ground/floor.
Aliens5 with a money sign!
What a facinating momologue. Love it.
Exposition re: setting + character development. Pretty slick.
Don’t TED talks usually get a little more specific with ideas? I’m not sure I liked that dialogue.
So he believes he’s a god. That should end well.
Seriously though, a fabulous introduction to a dynamic and richly-conceived character. The only thing I didn’t care for was the final punchline – I am … Weyland – and the cliche of changing the world. That final dialogue did not satisfy my expectations after the excellent buildup.
Also, the examples of increasing technology starting with fire didn’t really form a set. It seemed more a laundry list. I would have focused on fire and energy-related technologies: Nuclear weapons and fusion, yes. Biotech and nanotech, no. Not part of the series.
But all in all a very good attempt. It will be interesting to see more. The title “Prometheus” in context makes this one to stick with.
(BTW, are those on the cliche list?)
Just read the other comments. Love the Alien series!
