Warner Bros. acquires supernatural thriller spec script “The Waiting” from first time screenwriters Mark Bianculli and Jeff Richard. From Deadline:
Described as Rear Window meets Paranormal Activity, mysterious events occur when two high school filmmakers decide to create the illusion of a haunting on an unsuspecting neighbor.
Preemptive purchase by Warners. Both writers worked their way up the assistant ranks:
Bianculli is currently a writer’s assistant on CBS’s Unforgettable, and previously a PA on FX’s Justified. Richard worked as a production assistant on NCSI: Los Angeles. Both writers worked as assistants at Industry Entertainment where they met Rosalie Swedlin. Bianculli became Swedlin’s assistant at Anonymous Content.
Naturally they are repped by Anonymous Content as well as WME.
By my count, this is the 13th spec script sale of 2012.
At this point in 2011, there had been 4 spec deals.
Spec sales are up 225% year-to-date compared to last year.
Congratulations to Messrs. Bianculli and Richard!
