Donald Kaufman: Anyway, listen, I meant to ask you, I need a cool way to kill people. Don’t worry, for my script.
Charlie Kaufman: I don’t write that kind of stuff.
Donald Kaufman: Oh, come on, man, please? You’re the genius.
Charlie Kaufman: Here you go. The killer’s a literature professor. He cuts off little chunks from his victims’ bodies until they die. He calls himself “the deconstructionist”.
Donald Kaufman: That’s kinda good. I like that.
Charlie Kaufman: See I was kidding, Donald
Donald Kaufman: Oh, okay, sorry. You got me. Do you mind if I use it though?

Trivia: Donald Kaufman was nominated for a Golden Globe with Charlie Kaufman, despite being a fictional character. They were also both nominated for an Academy Award and the Academy made it known that, in the event of a victory, the two brothers would have to share one statue.

Dialogue On Dialogue: Vic’s commentary: I love this sibling rivalry, chiefly because it’s really anything but. Donald’s reverence for Charlie and ignorance of his own annoying traits combine to simultaneously create and defuse tension. Like technology vs horse.
