How do you access spec scripts that have sold?

November 28th, 2012 by

Earlier today, I hammered home the point about reading scripts, especially selling spec scripts. This leads to the obvious question: How does one go about accessing such scripts?

One solution: Work in Hollywood. Problem solved!

Okay, so assuming you don’t want to change careers and locales in order to access spec scripts, there are other alternatives. For example, you can subscribe to online sites like The Tracking Board which have a virtual library of spec scripts.

When you take a Screenwriting Master Class course, I make selling spec scripts available to read and analyze.

How about you? What suggestions do you have on how to access selling spec scripts.

NOTE: THE POINT OF THIS DISCUSSION IS ABOUT EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES! READING SELLING SPEC SCRIPTS IS A CRITICAL COMPONENT IN LEARNING THE CRAFT OF SCREENWRITING!

Are spec scripts available on The Tracking Board in PDF format?

  2. I was going to join TB a few months ago but was told that the library was taken down. Are the specs still available?

Alan, I haven’t been there for awhile, so perhaps you’re right. I’ll check and see.

  3. I would really appreciate it if you can clear this up. I agree that one of the best way to learn screenwriting is to read scripts especially spec scripts. But they’re hard to find nowadays ever since the Fox law suit fiasco. There used to be links everywhere to the Blacklist screenplays but alas it’s now almost extinct.

Any update on the Tracking Board script availability?
