Dialogue On Dialogue: The word “fuck” is used 289 times in this movie including multiple in this cathartic scene. Here Kovic’s character confronts his deepest anger and his deepest regret: He never once made love. Now without a penis or testicles due to his war injuries, that symbolizes in a powerful way how ‘impotent’ he feels about life. The irony of him shouting out one “fuck” after another while unable to engage in the actual act of “fucking” is thick and deeply sorrowful.
