“The History of the Movie Trailer”

Another good history lesson video from FilmmakerIQ, this one titled: The History of the Movie Trailer. It covers the emergence of the first trailers in 1913, the four decades in which the National Screen Service dominated the movie trailer business, and the parallels between the creative dynamics in filmmaking with that of trailers throughout the years including the birth of the blockbuster in 1975 with the debut of Jaws. Interesting to note that movie trailers are almost completely dominated by male voice-over actors. In fact I recently interviewed one of the handful of women to voice a movie trailer. Look for that in the next month or so.
