“Victoire! Victoire!”

Victory (1981), screenplay by Evan Jones and Yabo Yablonsky, story by Yabo Yablonsky and Djordje Milicevic & Jeff Maguire

The Daily Dialogue theme for the week: Victory, suggested by NB.

Trivia: Reportedly, Sylvester Stallone insisted that his character score the game-winning goal in the film, as he felt he was the biggest star. The non-American crew was finally able to convince him of the absurdity of the goalkeeper scoring the winning goal, and the penalty shot was specifically written to placate his ego.

Dialogue On Dialogue: What better way to begin a week’s worth of dialogue about victory than with a bunch of French football fans yelling, “Victoire!” By the way, Warner Bros. is in talks to do a remake of this movie.

There’s something about that piece of trivia that speaks to the whole comic brazenness of this film.
