Spec Script Deal: “Verona”

Sony Pictures Entertainment acquires drama epic spec script “Verona” written by Neil Widener and Gavin James. From THR:

Exact details are being kept more clandestine than a love affair between two teens from opposing Italian families, but the script is said to reimagine the classic love story through a lens of an epic, 300-style world.

Everyone knows Romeo and Juliet. Sounds like the writers ‘bent’ the genre from drama-romance to drama-action.

Widener and James are repped by CAA and Grandview.

By my count, this is the 18th spec script deal in 2015.

There were 15 spec script deals year-to-date in 2014.
