Daily Dialogue — March 15, 2016
Shop assistant: Hello, can I help you?
Vivian: I was in here yesterday, you wouldn’t wait on me.
Shop assistant: Oh.
Vivian: You people work on commission, right?
Shop assistant: Yeah.
Vivian: Big mistake. Big. Huge. I have to go shopping now.
— Pretty Woman (1990), written by J.F. Lawton
The Daily Dialogue theme for the week: Customer Service, suggested by David Proenza. Today’s suggestion by @Thesueshi.
Trivia: The original script by J.F. Lawton was contributed to by Robert Garland, Stephen Metcalfe and Barbara Benedek.
Dialogue On Dialogue: Classic setup and payoff. In the first shopping scene, the sales clerks dismiss Vivian with this line: “I don’t think we have anything for you. You’re obviously in the wrong place. Please leave.” The dialogue above a wonderful ‘burn’.
