Paramount acquires action thriller spec script “Wunderkind” from writer Patrick Aison. From THR:
The action/thriller is set in the 1970s and follows two Nazi hunters; one is with the CIA and another works for Israel’s Mossad intelligence organization. The two hunters’ paths become intertwined — but they only start working together reluctantly.
Per Variety:
“Wunderkind” generated high levels of interest within the past two weeks after it garnered bids from four financiers within 48 hours of its initial circulation.
That combined with the fact that Bad Robot [J.J. Abrams] is the producer suggest this is one well-written script. Also yet another action thriller spec to sell. That is one hot cross genre.
Aison is repped by H2F.
By my count, this is the 57th spec script sale of 2012.
There were 43 spec sales at this point last year.
The 57th spec script didn’t sell last until July 25.
Spec script sales are up 25% year-to-date compared to 2011.
