10,000th post contest!

On Sunday, I posted this:

GITS is currently on 9,966 posts. That means within a week or so, I will be publishing the 10,000th post. I thought we could have a bit of fun with this achievement by asking you this question:
What should the 10,000th GITS post be?
Let’s make it a contest. Whoever goes to comments here and makes the best suggestion will win a free 30–45 minute teleconference with me to discuss anything related to screenwriting including a consultation on a story of their choice, or a review of their loglines. Whatever you choose.
So what should we do to mark this special occasion? Is there a unique subject I should cover? Perhaps you have an idea for an inspirational post. Or something funny. Something unusual.
What would be a truly cool way to acknowledge the blog’s 10,000th post?
The winner gets a screenwriting related teleconference with me.
Contest begins now. See you in comments!

That total of posts is now up to 9,982 so the time is drawing nigh. One last chance for your suggestions. You may go here to see the ideas so far, most of them quite worthy.

UPDATE: Some great suggestions, folks, and I’m sure many of them will end up as the basis for blog posts, each of which I will attribute to the person who came up with the idea. But the one that leaped off the page was this from Shaula Evans:

Whether it’s for the 10,000th post or some other occasion, I would love to see you interview Luke–or have you interview each other, if Luke’s game.

Of course, that’s what we should do. This blog wouldn’t be here without Luke’s inspiration — “Go into the story, and find the animals!” Plus he is a true movie guy and a writer to boot. So that’s what I will do: Interview my son Luke, get his unique perspective on things.

Congratulations, Sheila. You have won a teleconference with me to discuss any of your stories or loglines. I thank everyone else for your ideas. As I say, you may very well see them — and your name — on future GITS posts.

Now onward to 20,000 posts!

UPDATE #2: Shaula informs me I messed up! The suggestion to interview Luke originated with this comment from Kevin Gilbert:

We all know the story of how this site got its name. Your son was 3 in 2008 when he supplied you with words of screenwriting wisdom. He’s likely seven now. In four years, what new pearls does he have to share? I think it’s about time for a new interview.

Thanks, Shaula, for clearing that up for me. The winner of the contest is Kevin! Congratulation, Kevin. Email me and we’ll set up a phone call.

One clarification: Luke was 3 in 2003 when he uttered those fateful, so he is now 12 years old. And I must say a thoroughly engaging young fellow. I look forward to talking with him for the 10,000th post. And with Kevin as well. Again thanks to all for your suggestions!
