2016 Annual Black List goes live tomorrow!

We are exactly 17 hours away from the revelation of the 2016 Annual Black List. Things to know:

• The announcements begin precisely at 9AM Pacific (U.S.). You may follow on Twitter: @theblcklst. Hashtag: #BlackList2016.
• On Twitter, the Black List team will announce one script and its writer(s) every two minutes starting at 9AM and continuing until the entire list is revealed.
• Links will be tweeted so you can go to The Black List YouTube channel to see entertainment figures offer congratulations to each writer whose script makes the annual list. You may even spot my face there!
• I will be live-blogging the list starting at 9AM Pacific, updating GITS every 10 minutes with an up to the minute aggregation of list honorees.
• The full list will be released to the public Monday at 12PM Pacific.
• Later next week, as is my custom, I will provide my analysis of this year’s Black List, peering through those literary tea leaves to see what we, as writers, can glean from the roster of scripts.

Did you know:

Four of the last eight Academy Awards for Best Picture went to scripts featured on previous Black Lists (SPOTLIGHT, SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, THE KING’S SPEECH, ARGO). Nine of the last eighteen screenwriting Oscars were from annual Black List scripts as well (SPOTLIGHT, JUNO, SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, THE KING’S SPEECH, THE SOCIAL NETWORK, THE DESCENDANTS, DJANGO UNCHAINED, ARGO, and THE IMITATION GAME).
 
 2016 awards season contenders MANCHESTER BY THE SEA, JACKIE, ARRIVAL, HELL OR HIGH WATER, and A MONSTER CALLS were all featured on previous Black Lists.

There are plenty of reasons to look forward to the revealing of the annual Black Lists, one of them being this: For several hours on Monday, Hollywood will turn its full attention to screenwriters. Appropriately so. Without writers, there would be no scripts. And without scripts, there would be no movies.
