4 spec script sales in one 24-hour period!

It’s extraordinary. I’ve done a quick review of the The Definitive List of Spec Script Sales [1991–2012] and I cannot find anything like this: Four spec script sales announced in a one-day period.

Four spec script sales. Major Hollywood studios involved. Bidding wars. Seven figure deals.

For a brief flickering moment in Hollywood, this wasn’t as good as 1995, the year during which the most spec scripts sold in the last two decades. It was better than that frenzied time, what we generally refer to as the Gold Age of Spec Scripts.

2012 has a chance to top 2011 which was the best year for spec script sales since 2002.

I don’t know how to interpret the last two years in any other way than to say it’s a good time to be writing spec scripts. The market is strong.

Throughout the day, I will post about each of the four spec deals including links to news sources, the latest data and analysis.

In the meantime, get your ass into gear and…

WRITE THAT SCRIPT!
