These ideas are yours for the keeping, free to do with them what you want. But beyond that, there is a larger lesson: The best way to come up with a great idea is to come up with a lot of ideas. This series each April is a reminder of that fact for all of us.

Speaking of which, I recently met a writer named Douglas King who has a book out: “Loglines: The Long and Short on Writing a Strong Logline.” The book derives from a challenge he gave himself: See if he could write an original logline each weekday for a year… which he did. Flipping through the book, here are a couple of examples:

Pounding Flesh: “After his girlfriend is murdered in the cross-fire between two rival gangs, one man trains to enact revenge a pound of flesh at a time, taking on both gang single-handedly.”
Nutted: “The week before his wedding, the groom gets a swift kick in the nuts causing him to see his girlfriend’s baby as a grown man in a onesie who guides him and tests him on his readiness for marriage and fatherhood.”

As far as the A Story Idea Each Day for a Month series goes? I’m already hard at work aggregating posts for next April. I encourage you to be on the lookout for story ideas. You never know when you may find one in your daily life.
