Another legal drama from David Kelley

Once upon a time, David Kelley was exec producer and actively writing three TV series at the same time: “Chicago Hope” (1994–2000), “Ally McBeal” (1997–2002), and “The Practice” (1997–2004). Throw in other notable series such as “Picket Fences” (1992–1996), “Boston Public” (2000–2004), “Boston Legal” (2004–2008), and all the way back to “Doogie Howser” (1989–1992), along with movies including From the Hip (1987) and Mystery, Alaska (1999), clearly Kelley is one of the most prolific writers in Hwood ever. Well, he’s up to his ol’ tricks again:

David E. Kelley is staying on the legal beat with a new series project.

The Emmy-winning creator of ABC’s “The Practice” and Fox’s “Ally McBeal” has penned a spec script for Warner Bros. TV, where he set up shop in May after more than two decades at 20th TV.

The project, an hourlong legal drama, is being taken to the broadcast networks this week with CBS and NBC as primary targets. Both nets are said to be very high on the show, which is expected to fetch a significant commitment.
