Athena Film Festival Black List Mini-Lab Class
I will be in New York City for the next few days for a number of events related to the Athena Film Festival.
One event I’m excited about is this presentation on Thursday:
This year for the first time the Athena Film Festival is partnering with the Black List to offer a screenwriting class for self-identifying female students during our festival. Using five archetypes — Protagonist, Nemesis, Attractor, Mentor, Trickster — the lecture will be taught by Scott Myers and will analyze several female-centric films including The Wizard of Oz, The Silence of the Lambs, Juno, Bridesmaids, and Mad Max: Fury Road. Using these films students will learn the fundamentals of character based screening writing. The lecture will help create a strong foundation in screenwriting theory.
For more information, go here. If you make it to the lecture and follow the blog, be sure to come up afterward. Always happy to meet readers in person!
