We are very pleased to announce that the opt-in period is now open for our 2nd Annual Black List / Women In Film Episodic Lab and our Inaugural Black List / Women In Film Feature Writers Lab for Women, both supported by Verizon go90.
2017 Black List / Women In Film Episodic Lab supported by Verizon go90
The Black List and Women In Film will invite six to eight promising non-professional television writers who identify as women to the Lab. The Lab will run twice weekly for four weeks beginning on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 and will consist of script development, peer workshopping sessions and Master Classes with established writers and industry executives. Lab participants will have their final pilots read by agencies and networks. Writers who are Women In Film members can also submit their script directly to WIF.
Travel and accommodations will not be provided for Episodic Lab participants. If you are applying to the Lab and do not live in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, you will need to cover your own travel and accommodation expenses.
2018 Black List / Women In Film Feature Lab for Women supported by Verizon go90
The Black List and Women In Film will invite six to eight promising non-professional screenwriters who identify as women to a weeklong, intensive writers workshop in Los Angeles, CA from February 18–24, 2018. All writers involved in the Lab will workshop one feature screenplay through one-on-one sessions with each screenwriting mentor and in peer workshops. The weeklong program will also include attendance at several story-related events including screenings and Q&As with professional screenwriters and dinner with lit agents and managers. Writers who are Women In Film members can also submit their script directly to WIF.
Air travel (coach class roundtrip flights within the continental United States) and accommodations will be provided by the Black List. If you are accepted into the Lab, you will be required to board in the provided accommodations for the duration of the program. The Feature Lab is a residential program.
The selection process will work like this:
The opt-in period for the Episodic Lab will be open until September 17, 2017. Up to 25 women writers will be invited, based on the strength of their scripts as determined by the Black List, to submit a professional resume and one-page personal statement due on September 22, 2017. The Black List and Women in Film will then invite 12–15 writers to interview. From those writers, the Black List and Women In Film will select six to eight women writers to participate in the Episodic Lab. Those writers will be notified no later than September 29, 2017.
Evaluations purchased before midnight on August 17, 2017 will be guaranteed consideration. Please note, purchase of an evaluation is not required for consideration to participate in the Episodic Lab.
The opt-in period for the Feature Lab will be open until November 26, 2017. Up to 15 writers will be invited, based on the strength of their scripts as determined by the Black List, to submit a professional resume and one-page personal statement due on December 1, 2017. From their scripts, personal statements and resumes, the Black List, Women In Film and Lab mentors will select six to eight writers to participate in each of the Labs. Those writers will be notified on January 8, 2018.
Evaluations purchased before midnight on October 26, 2017 will be guaranteed consideration. Please note, purchase of an evaluation is not required for consideration to participate in the Feature Lab.
Beginning today, writers who meet the criteria detailed on www.blcklst.com can opt their scripts into consideration for the Labs selection process during the uploading process or the “My Scripts” portion of the website.
