Copyright Math: Why the MPAA is Full of Sh*t

I’ve heard and read a lot of the arguments by content owners about the horrors of the bit torrent universe, but my gut has always told me that thinking is wrongheaded, that it’s better to disseminate content, even if some of it is free, in order to heighten awareness of it. The other side says pirated content represents lost revenue. Then along comes this guy with a TED Talk:

Comic author Rob Reid unveils Copyright Math (TM), a remarkable new field of study based on actual numbers from entertainment industry lawyers and lobbyists.

Or as FilmmakerIQ, where I found this link, put it: “Copyright Math: Why the MPAA is Full of Sh*t.”

Where do you come down on this issue? Theft? Piracy? Free speech?
