Charlie: Now casinos have house rules: they don’t like to lose. So you never show that you’re counting cards. That is the cardinal sin, Ray.
Raymond: Counting cards is bad.
Charlie: Yes.
Raymond: I like to drive slow on the driveway.
Charlie: If you get this right, Ray, you can drive anywhere you want as slow as you want.

Rain Man (1988), screenplay by Ronald Bass and Barry Morrow, story by Barry Morrow

The Daily Dialogue theme for the week: Gambling.

Trivia: During filming, both Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise doubted the movie’s potential and jokingly called it, “Two Schmucks in a Car”.

Dialogue On Dialogue: Charlie’s admonishment did not stick long with Raymond who — later on — admits to his ‘date’ that he’s in Las Vegas “counting cards.”

By the way, starting with the diner scene where Raymond identifies songs on the jukebox through the end of the Las Vegas trip is a great example of a sequence: A mini-story with its own Beginning, Middle, and End.
