Daily Dialogue — December 6, 2014

Jimmy pees in front of team, stumbles to exit.

Player: Hey coach.
‘Betty Spaghetti’: Mr. Dugan. Can you sign my husband’s baseball card for me?

Jimmy takes card, shreds it, leaves locker room.

Doris Murphy: Hey, great to meet ya!
Alice Gaspers: What are we gonna do? He didn’t give us a line-up.
Blondie: We can’t play without a line-up.

Team panics, argues.

Dottie Hinson: Hey, hey, hey, you guys, come on! How hard can it be to make a lineup? Come on!
Doris Murphy: Oh yeah? Well, why don’t you do it, Oregon?
Dottie Hinson: Me?
Mae Mordabito, Doris Murphy: [Together] Yeah, you!
Dottie Hinson: Alright, Mae, center field, lead off.
Mae Mordabito: She’s good!

Trivia: The storyline was inspired by the career of baseball legend Dottie Collins. During WWII, Collins played for the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, and pitched 17 shutouts during her six-year career.
