Daily Dialogue — February 13, 2015

Forrest: Lieutenant Dan! What’re you doin’ here?
Lieutenant Dan: Well, I thought I’d try out my sea legs.
Forrest: But you ain’t go no legs, Lieutenant Dan.
Lieutenant Dan: Yes, I know that. [pulls folded-up letter from back pocket] You wrote me a letter, you idiot. Well, well, Captain Forrest Gump. I had to see this for myself. [laughs] And I told you that if you were ever a shrimp boat captain, that I’d be your first mate. Well, here I am. I am a man of my word. 
Forrest: [they shake hands] Okay.
Lieutenant Dan: Yeah, don’t you be thinking that I’m gonna be calling you “Sir”. 
Forrest: No, sir.
