SHAW: I need cesarean!
MED POD: Error. This Med Pod is calibrated for male patients only. It does not operate for the procedure you have requested. Please seek medical assistance elsewhere.
SHAW: Surgery. Abdominal. Penetrating injuries. Foreign body. Initiate. Ah!
MED POD: Surgical procedure to begin. Running diagnostics.
SHAW: Get it out! Come on! Oh god! Ah! Come on!
MED POD: Initiating anesthetics. Commence surgical procedure.

The Daily Dialogue theme for the week is surgery. Today’s suggestion by Illimani.

Trivia: Ridley Scott initially wanted Max von Sydow for the role of Peter Weyland. However, Scott and Damon Lindelof conceived of a scene in which David the android (Michael Fassbender) would interface with Weyland while in hypersleep, and that Weyland’s dream would reflect his looks as a younger man since he is obsessed with immortality. Though the scene was cut from the script and never filmed, Guy Pearce had already been cast in the role and thus underwent extensive make-up to appear elderly.

Dialogue On Dialogue: Commentary by Illimani: “In the first draft of the script almost everything was narrated visually as Shaw typed her surgery instructions. I think it was a good idea to actually make Shaw interact with the machine as a way to show clearly the stakes of what she was about to go through.”
