Daily Dialogue — February 20, 2015

Brutus “Brutal” Howell: [a rehearsal execution] Arlen Bitterbuck, you have been condemned to die by a jury of your peers, sentence imposed by a judge in good standing in this state. Do you have anything to say before the sentence is carried out?
Toot-Toot: [gleefully] Yeah! I want a fried chicken dinner with gravy on the taters, I want to shit in your hat, and I got to have Mae West sit on my face, because I am one horny motherfucker!

— The Green Mile (1999), screenplay by Frank Darabont, novel by Stephen King

The Daily Dialogue theme for the week: Prison.

Trivia: When Stephen King visited the set he asked to be strapped into Old Sparky to see how it felt. He didn’t like it and asked to be released.

Dialogue On Dialogue: Know what’s interesting about this scene? There’s a lot of exposition in it. All that business about how the electric chair works and the actual procedure leading up to pulling the switch, that’s all information, but it’s not boring at all because what transpires in the scene is compelling, scary and funny, all at the same time.

If you have a suggestion for this week’s theme, please post in comments.
