Jesse: There’s these breeds of monkeys, right, and all they do is have sex, all the time, you know? And they turn out to be the least violent, the most peaceful, the most happy, you know? So maybe fooling around isn’t so bad.
Celine: Are you talking about monkeys?
Jesse: Yes I’m talking about monkeys.
Celine: Ah, I thought so…
Jesse: Why?
Celine: I’ve never heard this one before, but it reminds me of this perfect male argument to justify them fooling around.
Jesse: No, no. Women monkeys are fooling around. Everybody’s fooling around.
Celine: You know, I have this awful paranoid thought that feminism was mostly invented by men so that they could like, fool around a little more. You know, women, free your minds, free your bodies, sleep with me. We’re all happy and free as long as I can fuck as much as I want.

Before Sunrise (1995), written by Richard Linklater, Kim Krizan

The Daily Dialogue theme for the week: Walk and Talk.

Trivia: The idea for the movie came from a night Richard Linklater spent walking around Philadelphia with Amy, a woman he met. Contrary to the movie, they stayed in touch for a while, until contact was lost. Linklater never heard from her again, not even when he became a director and Before Sunrise (1995) was released. It was not until 2010 that he found out that Amy had died in a traffic accident before the release of the first film in the trilogy.

Dialogue On Dialogue: This is one of many ‘walk and talk’ scenes in the movie which not only gives the story a sense of motion, it also takes advantage of some gorgeous Parisian backdrops.
