Daily Dialogue — January 8, 2015

Debbie: I don’t care what you did or who you were with. I would have appreciated a call and maybe a little help today.
Danny: I’m hung over, so shoot me.
Debbie: Don’t tempt me.
Danny: Besides, they can’t eat all this. Don’t work so hard for Bernie.
Debbie: It’s for Joan, too. Please put the cranberry sauce in that dish.
Danny: Oh, all of these airs and graces are for Joan.
Debbie: It’s for both. At least Joan sits down while she eats.
Danny: Yeah, she’s a real lady, that one.
Debbie: You want me to make Bernie feel at home? I’ll serve him a fistful of bread and hunk of Velveeta.
Danny: He’s a better person than that bitch on wheels you’ve got for a friend. She’s trying to sabotage us.
Debbie: And he’s full of comfort and support. He hates me, and I’m slaving for him.
Danny: I did all the hard stuff.
Debbie: You did not! Danny, please, you did not!
Danny: I did, too. I mashed the potatoes, made the stuffing and a salad. You cooked the turkey.
Debbie: You son of a bitch! I did all the shopping, all the preparations. I mean, look at this goddam spread!

About Last Night… (1986), screenplay by Tim Kazurinsky and Denise DeClue, play by David Mamet

The Daily Dialogue theme for the week: Hangover. Today’s suggestion by Bretton Zinger.

Trivia: The final version of David Mamet’s stage-play “Sexual Perversity in Chicago” was an amalgam of the first version of that titled play as well as another of Mamet’s plays, “Danny Shapiro and his Search for the Mystery Princess”.

Dialogue On Dialogue: What’s worse than being hungover than having an argument?

If you have a suggestion for this week’s theme, please post in comments — and thanks!
