Detective Tom Polhaus: [picks up the falcon] Heavy. What is it?
Sam Spade: The, uh, stuff that dreams are made of.

The Maltese Falcon (1941), screen play by John Huston, novel by Dashiell Hammet

The Daily Dialogue theme for the week: Elevator.

Trivia: Three of the statuettes still exist and are conservatively valued at over $1 million each. This makes them some of the most valuable film props ever made; indeed, each is now worth more than three times what the film cost to make.

Dialogue On Dialogue: The dialogue takes place just before the last image of the movie in which Brigid (Mary Astor), the film’s femme fatale, is visualized in an elevator after having been arrested. Note the iron bars of the elevator door symbolizing the character’s future: prison.
