Trivia: Director Joss Whedon had earlier been considered to direct X-Men in the 1990s. A big fan of the X-Men, he even wrote a script, from which only two lines made it into the film.

Dialogue On Dialogue: Debbie’s thoughts on today’s dialogue: “Incidentally, what’s brilliant about this exchange is that Stark actually answers Rogers’ question (in a way) later in the movie. In Act Three, finding Loki has taken over Stark Tower, Tony walks in to confront him — having taken off his malfunctioning, ruined Iron Man suit. Even without his normal tactical advantage, he’s ballsy and smart enough to outwit Loki, thus proving that he’s more than just his invention, he can be a hero without it…”
