Daily Dialogue — June 3, 2015

Karen: I know this is hard but it’s all beautiful.
Sarah: Yeah we put on a great funeral here.
Michael: [sarcastically] Yeah, maybe I’ll have mine here.
Sarah: We give first priority to people who kill themselves in one of our bathrooms.

The three stop smiling.

Sarah: That was a terrible thing to say… I don’t know why I said that.

— The Big Chill (1983), written by Lawrence Kasdan and Barbara Benedek,

The Daily Daily dialogue theme for the week: Grief.

Trivia: At least twice during the movie we can see an octopus on a TV screen in the house. Of course an octopus has eight legs, and there are eight intertwined friends in the film (counting their friend Alex, who we barely see).

Dialogue On Dialogue: One of the problems in dealing with death is people don’t do it that often, therefore they may tend to say and do awkward things… like Sarah does here.
