Trivia: Pixar’s characters are often planned years in advance. Nemo first appeared as a stuffed toy on a couch in Boo’s room in Monsters, Inc. (2001). This movie introduces the main characters of post-2003 Pixar films.

Dialogue On Dialogue: In Finding Nemo, a sidekick character — Dory — turns out to be a Mentor. Due to Marlin’s fixation on the past and anxiety about the future, he is unable to live in the present. Then Dory: who can ONLY live in the present.
