Daily Dialogue — May 2, 2014
Hans: The following people are to be released from their captors: In Northern Ireland, the seven members of the New Provo Front. In Canada, the five imprisoned leaders of Liberte de Quebec. In Sri Lanka, the nine members of the Asian Dawn movement…
John McClane: [listening on the radio] What the fuck?
Karl: [mouthing silently] Asian Dawn?
Hans: [covers the radio] I read about them in Time magazine.
— Die Hard (1988), screenplay by Jeb Stuart and Steven E. de Souza, novel by Roderick Thorp
The Daily Dialogue theme for the week: Nemesis, suggested by Alejandro.
Trivia: Much of the script was improvised due to the constant screenplay tweaks that were being made during filming.
Dialogue On Dialogue: I love this moment because it’s not only consistent with Gruber’s public ruse that taking the hostages is a political act, it’s also fun the way Gruber trots out a series of renegade outfits.
