Daily Dialogue — May 24, 2015

Elaine: It takes so many things to make love last. But most of all, it takes respect, and I can’t live with a man I don’t respect.

— Airplane! (1981), written by Jim Abrahams & David Zucker & Jerry Zucker

The Daily Dialogue theme for the week: Breaking the 4th Wall. Today’s suggestion by @MrGrahamClegg.

Trivia: To get the film green-lighted by Paramount, Jim Abrahams, David Zucker and Jerry Zucker pitched it as “Animal House (1978) on a plane” — which, of course, was far from the truth, but the only way they could get the studio execs to understand it was a zany comedy.

Dialogue On Dialogue: The granddaddy of spoof movies and, of course, it has to break the 4th wall.
