Trivia: Ben Affleck cited The Departed (2006), Heat (1995), Mystic River (2003), and The Friends of Eddie Coyle (1973) as influences on this film. Of them, Affleck said “All are R-rated movies in that same vein, and the movies I used as the gold standard of success here.”

Dialogue On Dialogue: Doug McRay (Ben Affleck) delivers the line of dialogue to Claire (Rebecca Hall) to help calm her nerves as she keeps trying and failing to nail the combination to the safe lock. It’s the first moment of Doug seeing her as a person, not a victim, made even more emphatic when he places his hand upon hers.
