Daily Dialogue — October 11, 2014
Dean Vernon Wormer: Here are your grade point avarages. Mr. Kroger: two C’s, two D’s and an F. That’s a 1.2. Congratulations, Kroger. You’re at the top of the Delta pledge class. Mr. Dorfman?
Flounder: [drunk] Hello!
Dean Vernon Wormer: 0.2… Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son. Mr. Hoover, president of Delta house? 1.6; four C’s and an F. A fine example you set! Daniel Simpson Day… HAS no grade point average. All courses incomplete. Mr. Blu…
Sees Bluto with a pair of pencils in his nostrils.
Dean Vernon Wormer: Mr. Blutarsky… zero… point… zero.
Bluto shrugs.
Dean Vernon Wormer: Now I want you to tell Mr. Stratton and Mr. Schoenstein exactly what I’m about to tell you now.
Hoover: What’s that, sir?
Dean Vernon Wormer: You’re out! Finished at Faber! Expelled! I want you off this campus at nine o’clock Monday morning, and I’ve contacted your local draft boards and told them that you were all, all eligible for military service.

Daily Dialogue theme for this week: Punishment.
Trivia: According to Landis, Universal Pictures President Ned Tanen objected so strongly to the Dexter Lake Club scene that he interrupted a screening of the film and ordered the scene be removed immediately, claiming it would cause race riots in the theaters. In response, Landis screened the film for Richard Pryor, who then wrote a note to Tanen which read: “Ned, Animal House is fucking funny, and white people are crazy. Richard.”
Dialogue On Dialogue: After putting Delta Tau Chi on “double secret probation,” Dean Wormer had no place left to go other the nuclear option: Set up the frat to fail key exams, then expel them. As Blutarsky laments later, “Seven years of college down the drain.”
If you have any suggestions for this week’s theme, please post in comments… and thanks!
