Paige: I vow to help you love life, to always hold you with tenderness and to have the patience that love demands, to speak when words are needed and to share the silence when they are not, to agree to disagree on red velvet cake, and to live within the warmth of your heart and always call it home.
Leo: Wow, you set the bargain high. Did you write your vows on a menu?
Paige: yeah, why?

Leo: I vow to fiercely love you in all your forms, now and forever. I promise to never forget that this is a once in a lifetime love. And to always know in the deepest part of my soul that no matter what challenges might carry us apart, we will always find our way back to each other.

Trivia: Loosely based on the story of Kim and Krickitt Carpenter. The Carpenters liked the movie but were disappointed by its omission of their faith in Christianity which was an important factor in their resilience.

Dialogue On Dialogue: Commentary by Shari: “They are young and full of life. They have no idea that life will challenge them severely after a car accident to hold onto the promises they made to each other in their beautiful vow, and fight hard for each other. The way I see it is that the vow is a set-up that has to be paid-off in the movie.”
