Daily Dialogue theme for this week: Punishment.

Trivia: According to critic Alex Ross, the alliance between Django and Dr. Schultz is “not as absurd” as audiences might believe, because in the 1840s many German revolutionaries and progressives left Europe for the U.S. where they often became active in the anti-slavery movement.

Dialogue On Dialogue: All sorts of punishment meted out by Django in this scene against the Brittle brothers including whip and gun. But the line “Y’all wanna see somethin’,” directed toward the slaves has a level of subtext: This is what Django wants to see, perhaps imagined a thousand time. And he does get to see it.
