Catherine: Can I help you with that?
Mr. Gumb: Would you?
Catherine: Sure.
Mr. Gumb: Thank you.
Catherine: That’s alright. You look kinda handicapped.
Mr. Gumb: Yeah, I got it this far. I just can’t get it up in the truck by myself. Here, grab this.
Catherine: Okay.
Mr. Gumb: Just set it down. That’s good. Get in the truck and I wanna push it all the way up. I really appreciate this. Thank you. Thank you. Push it all the way back.
Catherine: Is this good?
Mr. Gumb: Yeah, that’s great.
Catherine: Okay.
Mr. Gumb: Say, are you about a size fourteen?
Catherine: Sorry?

Trivia: Brooke Smith and Ted Levine were actually very close on the set, making Jodie Foster refer to Brooke Smith as Patricia Hearst’ a kidnapping victim who later fell in love with her kidnapper.

Dialogue On Dialogue: Commentary by Daniel: “The moral of this story is: Don’t be a good samaritan. Just keep walking and mind your own business. Otherwise you might get thrown down a hole and forced to rub lotion on your skin.”

I love that moment where Brooke Smith leans forward, then stops… and we’re all thinking, “DON’T DO IT! DON’T HELP HIM!” She just milks that moment.

By the way, windowless Ford vans are the preferred vehicle of serial killers.
