Daily Dialogue theme for next week: Lecture

Daily Dialogue theme for next week: Lecture

Thanks to Illimani for this week’s theme: Agony. Next week we enter into the halls of academia with this them: Lecture.

“You teach yourselves the law, but I train your minds.
You come in here with a skull full of mush; you leave thinking like a lawyer.”

Of course, there are other types of lectures. A policeman lecturing someone they busted. A parent lecturing a child. A priest lecturing an altar boy.

The challenge is to make the lecturing something that is entertaining. Let’s see if we can come up with some great examples to help inspire and guide those of us who are faced with writing lecture scenes.

The usual drill:

* Copy/paste dialogue from IMDB Quotes or some other transcript source.

* Copy/paste the URL of an accompanying video from YouTube or some other video source.

I’d also ask you to think about why the dialogue is notable. Is there anything about the dialogue which provides some takeaway re screenwriting?

Here is our lineup for upcoming Daily Dialogue themes:

March 10-March 16: Sports Announcer [@dproII]

March 17-March 23: Card Game

March 24-March 30: Self Deprecation [JasperLamarCrab]

March 31-April 7: Prayer

April 8-April 14: Fear [Gordon]

See you in comments with your suggestions for movie scenes featuring next week’s theme: Lecture. And thanks in advance for your suggestions!
