Forks-In-The-Road

Yogi Berra once said, “When you come to a fork-in-the-road, take it.”

Unfortunately that doesn’t work out so well when it comes to screenwriting.

Over the course of 100+ pages, we hit hundreds, maybe even thousands of forks-in-the-road. We can’t afford to just “take it.” We go this way or that way with a plot or character choice, and each of those decisions impacts the story we write.

Sometimes we may good decisions.

Sometimes not.

That is one big reason why you should be figuring out your story in prep… because it’s much easier to re-tool things there when you haven’t committed the time, energy and words you do when typing FADE IN and pounding out pages.

Another reason to consider prep… at least this version of Prep is you get the advice of a professional writer to help traverse all those forks-in-the-road.
