Free Screenwriting Resource: Everything You Wanted to Know About Specs

I have been tracking the spec script market in Hollywood since I sold a spec myself in 1987. While I may not be the ultimate authority on the subject, I know a lot about it. So earlier this year, I wrote a 20-part series called Everything You Need to Know About Specs which pretty much covers it all. The evolution of the spec script historically in Hollywood, the major players in the spec acquisition market, the role of managers and agents, and how they approach positioning a spec to sell, attaching producers and/or talent, bidding war, preemptive purchase with interview commentary from screenwriters and Hollywood managers.

In other words, the series is pretty damn comprehensive.

Each day in August, I’m going to highlight a screenwriting resource available on the blog. Why? Because with over 15,000 posts and 70+ archive topics, I want to make sure readers are aware of the many, many assets available here for reading and research. And they are all free!
