Free Screenwriting Resource: Go Into The Story Interviews

One of the very best ways you can learn the craft is study the way professional writers go about their business. It’s one reason why I have been aggregating screenwriting, TV writer and filmmaker interviews — audio, visual, written — I find online.

Something I’ve discovered, however: Most interviewers are journalists and therefore have a limited understanding or interest in how writers craft stories.

So I began to do interviews myself. I focus on three areas I know are of specific interest to GITS readers: The path of each writer from outsider to pro; a deep analysis of one or more of their film or TV projects; and a series of questions about the craft.

Over the years, I have had the pleasure of interviewing eight Nicholl Fellowship winners and dozens of Black List writers, writers who have won WGA Awards and writers who have sold spec scripts, some of them with multiple spec deals.

I have also interviewed managers, producers, studio executives and others who work in the industry.
