Go On Your Own Quest, Week 11: Prep

“The Quest” has entered Week 11! So has Go On Your Own Quest, an opportunity for anyone to follow the structure of “The Quest” to dig into screenwriting theory [Core — 8 weeks], figure out your story [Prep — 6 weeks], and write a first draft [Pages — 10 weeks]. It’s a 24-week immersion in the screenwriting process and you can do it here — for free!

This week the writers in The Quest have moved out of the exploration mode in Prep and shifted into wrangling the plot. For those of you who plan to Go On Your Own Quest, we began our discussion this week Monday with this question: Do you know how your story begins? Discussion here. Tuesday’s question: Do you know your story’s end of Act One? Discussion here. Yesterday’s question: Do you know your story’s end of Act Two? Discussion here. Today’s question:

* Do you know how your story ends?

I will be teaching the 6-week online writing workshop Prep: From Concept To Outline beginning October 15th.

For background on “Go Into The Story: The Quest,” go here and here.

Those of you following The Quest, we type FADE IN on Monday, October 22nd. Are you prepping your story? Are you getting ready to pound out your first draft? You have four weeks to pull your story together before moving into the page-writing part of the process.

NOTE: Announcing the GOYOQ Forums, a free online hub where you and other Quest participants can go to support each other and share your stories. Go here.
