Interview: Jonathan Nolan and David Goyer (The Dark Knight)
Here is an interview (actually an amalgamation of several Q&A sessions) with The Dark Knight co-writer Jonathan Nolan and David Goyer who received co-story by credit with the movie’s director Christopher Nolan (Jonathan’s brother and also co-writer of the movie’s screenplay). Here is a snippet from Nolan in the interview:
JN: That’s the key thing right there that’s what gives you license to make changes because there isn’t one single version or vision of this [Batman’s] story. So that gives you lots of room. The thing is that you want to view the world [Batman’s world] through a certain lens and our lens — Chris’ lens — and the mandate from him that were to work under is realism. A universe which operates under the laws of physics and our heroes have to adhere to.
The screenplay was nominated for a WGA award for Best Adapted Screenplay. Along with this interview, there are some comments here Nolan made at the recent Beyond Words event at the WGA Theater on 2/5/09.
