J.K. Rowling’s Harvard commencement address
That’s right, the renowned author of Harry Potter fame had these words of wisdom for Harvard graduates:
“The knowledge that you have emerged wiser and stronger from setbacks means that you are ever after secure in your ability to survive,” Rowling said. “You will never truly know yourself, or the strength of your relationships, until both have been tested by adversity.”
This from a woman who, as a single mother, lived in relative poverty before selling “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”.
So the next time you feel like complaining about your lot in the writer’s life, remember what Rowling went through and what she represents in the way of possibility.
