March is Movies You Made Month!

Every year, I like to spotlight the creative ambitions of readers in a series I call Movies You Made. For example, back in January 2010, I featured a short film called Aquarius of Hearts, written and directed by Cameron Alexander. Here it is:

Lo and behold, Cameron went on to write and sell the spec script “Omega Man” to CBS Films last April.

Now I’m not saying that if you get a movie featured in the Movies You Made series, you’re guaranteed to sell a spec script like Cameron, but hey… it happened once, it can happen again!

So here how it works:

* If you have been involved in the development and/or production of a movie, you are eligible.

* The movie may be a short film, a feature length film, a trailer for a film, but whatever it is, it has to be in a format (Vimeo, YouTube) so I can embed it in a blog post.

* Student films are okay as long as they’re good.

* I like to include the crew information, so please be ready to provide that.

* If you have any interesting production anecdotes, feel free to send that along.

* If your film won any awards or other distinguishing facts, you can include that info as well.

The best way to do this is to email me (there’s a link on the left-hand side of the blog under the word Connect).

Spread the word. Last May we ended up having movies every single day of the month and into June. I’m happy to promote your film as long as it’s of a quality worth sharing with the GITS community.

Here’s another one that was featured in Movies You Made called The Bicycle from filmmakers Chris McCoy and Adam Neustadter:

This short film has been seen by tens of thousands of viewers and I believe this was the first site to feature it before Vimeo made it a Staff Pick.
