May: Classic 90s Movie Month

Last December, we had a series called Classic 80s Movies Month in which I invited readers to select noteworthy movies from the decade of the eighties and provide a condensed overview of it. That resulted in this: A list of links to movies you should know about.

That series went so well, I thought why not do this for more decades? Over time, we could aggregate a decade by decade resource I could point people to who know they need to watch movies, but might not have an idea which ones.

So what if we make May: Classic 90s Movie Month?

I’m looking for 23 volunteers to write guest posts to go live Monday through Friday in May, each entry featuring a 90s movie you think screenwriters should know about and hopefully at some point watch.

Here is a template you can use for your guest post:

Movie Title

Year

Writers (both screenwriters and any authors whose books were used as the basis for adaptation)

Lead Actors (Just the main ones)

Director

IMDB Plot Summary (You can find that directly under the Your Rating box. If you don’t feel the summary does the story justice, feel free to write up a logline of your own.)

Why I Think This Is A Classic 90s Movies (Feel free to write as much as you’d like up to a half-page or so.)

My Favorite Moment In The Movie

My Favorite Dialogue In the Movie (IMDB has a Quotes section for almost every movie, so you can find key dialogue in your movie’s site.)

If you can find a YouTube clip from the film or its trailer, please include that URL.

When you are done with your guest post, you may simply copy and paste the content into an email to me.

I will run the posts in the order I receive them.

We’re up to 23 guest posts. My original goal: 23. That will cover Monday through Friday posts in May. If, however, more people volunteer, we can run the series seven days per week. So spread the word that we’re crowdsourcing analysis of 90s movies as a resource for writers!

UPDATE: Thanks to your great response, we hit our goal of 23! Let’s see if we can get to 31 which would cover the entire month of May. A lot more great 90s movies to cover!
