Movies You Made: “Ashley”
March is Movies You Made month at Go Into The Story where we feature the work of some independent filmmakers.
Today: Ashley.
Production notes from writer-director Jeremy Lei Ontiveros:
Ashley is a short film I funded as well as my first directorial debut. It was a film that myself and a very small crew worked on for 6 months, and just released it this past Tuesday.
It is a story about a girl preparing to go to college, but as she’s haunted by a recurring nightmare, she obsesses over what it means. Then, on the one day she tries to forget about it, she’s unexpectedly confronted with the horrifying truth.

I asked each of the filmmakers in this month’s series to answer this question: What inspired you about this particular story to make it a movie? Here is Jeremy’s response:
My wife and I were taking a road trip. On our long drives we tend to brainstorm about story ideas. During this particular trip we saw quite a few barns and farmhouses, and thought a few of them seem pretty creepy. That’s when the idea for “Ashley” started to develop. I wanted to tell a story that would be creepy compelling and leaving you wanting to know more about “Ashley”
