Movies You Made: “Egg” by Chris Martin
For several months, I’ve been tagging a bunch of emails from filmmakers who have contacted me about their film projects, so I figured we should feature them this May. If you have a movie, either short-form or long, with which you were involved — writer, actor, director — please either email me or post details in comments. Happy to promote them on GITS.
Today we feature the short film Egg, a writer-director currently working out of South Korea. A note from Chris:
Hi Scott,
I’m a director currently based out of Seoul, South Korea trying to get my first feature made. I also try to tweet a daily story (@chrismeetworld) and that’s where I originally found GITS and what keeps me up to date with it. So first of all, thank you for doing the blog!
I saw you post requesting shorts and seeing as I’m working on getting the feature version of my most recent short going, I thought it would be perfect to get a few more eyes on it.
We did ‘Egg’ in 2011. It was written by Josh Billig and myself and shot during the coldest winter Korea has had in the past 100 years. Beer froze in the can during one scene. After we finished, there was still so much story left we wanted to tell, so this past December, we sat down and wrote the feature. It’s still just a first draft, but I think we’ve got something honest, real, and sweet. Or at least I hope we do!

Plot summary: When Tim’s girlfriend won’t marry him because he’s not Korean, there’s just one way to win her back… become Asian. ‘Egg’ is a romantic comedy about just how much a person will change to hang on to the one they love.
