On her thirtieth birthday, Laura Miller gets a surprise visit from the past — in the form her 10 year old self — who forces her to acknowledge the life she once dreamed for herself is not the life she currently lives.

I asked each of the filmmakers in this month’s series to answer this question: What inspired you about this particular story to make it a movie? Here is Sarah’s response:

Last year I came across one of my old notebooks from the fifth grade. I was amused by my expectations of the future and wanted to explore how expectations often clash with reality, especially as I approached my own 30th birthday.
