Second Heart is a contemplative story told with minimal dialog about a widower who is inspired to search for his high school sweetheart and a second chance at love.

Second Heart was made possible by dedicated friends and family and in return is dedicated to them.

I love learning about the challenges writers and filmmakers face, how they grow through obstacles and victories — even short films have so many stories behind the story. Which is why I was inspired to keep my own production blog and you can see it here.

Here is the 12 minute drama Second Heart:

I asked each of the filmmakers in this month’s series to answer this question: What inspired you about this particular story to make it a movie? Here is Christiane’s response:

When I heard the story of a sparkling newlywed couple in their 60s and how they were reunited after decades apart, I was struck by two things. First, our capacity for love is so big. We don’t just get one chance. We can love successfully and then love again. Second, we should never feel guilty about the timing in our lives or lose hope. Significant events can happen at any stage, any age.

The intent from the beginning was to write this story as a short film I could produce on a micro-budget and use as a proof of concept for my feature-length script which shares the themes of loss, death, love, and restoration.
